Guest Cindi Creager joins first 'Aged to Perfection' podcast of 2013

31 Dec

cindi_creagerJoin co-hosts Mark McNease and Rick Rose as we welcome guest Cindi Creager to this week’s podcast. Cindi and her partner Rainie Cole launched CreagerCole Communications in June, specializing in media training, public speaking preparation and media relations. Prior to branching out on her own, Cindi spent 5+ years as the National News Director for GLAAD, followed by her time with New Yorjk City’s LGBT Center as Director of Commuinications and Marketing.

Cindi arrived at GLAAD with thirteen years of experience as a local news director, reporter and anchor in Alaska and network television field producer / cinematographer in New York. Mark met her when he was at Reuters and Cindi worked with editorial management on their style guide. She also spoke at a diversity lunch, and was on a panel on marriage equality held at Reuters. There’ll be plenty to talk about on this show!

'Murder at Pride Lodge' ends year at #1 on Amazon gay mystery search

30 Dec

One of the more significant things I did this year, aside from leaving a job after 10 years, was to launch the Kyle Callahan Mysteries. The first book, ‘Murder at Pride Lodge’, has been doing well since it came out in September – big thanks to the readers. For me it is now all about doing those things we want to do, loving those people we love with all our hearts, seeing, feeling, saying what we most want to, with the recognition that time is a non-renewable resource. A day not lived fully is a day that never will be. In the words of that immortal song, ‘When the Red, Red Robin (Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin’ Along):

Wake up, wake up you sleepy head!
Get up, get out o’ bed!
Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red,
Live, love, laugh and be happy!

Cross-posted from lgbtSr.org.

As the year comes to an end, we wanted to say thank you to all the listeners who’ve made our weekly ‘Aged to Perfection’ podcast the most popular feature in the lgbtSr sphere. Since launching in June we have surpassed 18,000 listens, averaging over 700 for each show, and we have plenty of room to grow!

We’ve had so many terrific guests. To name just a few: longtime activist David Mixner, Tina Owen from Milwaukee’s Alliance School, humorist and prolific writer Eric Spitznagel, Wisconsin Gazette editor Louis Weisberg, Beloit College Professor Tom McBride, authors Trebor Healey, Tamra Orr, Betty Wong, and our own lively, dedicated lgbtSr contributors Judy Rickard, David Webb, Cathy McNease, and Stephanie Mott. The list is much longer and you can see all the shows and guests at the show page. You can listen to them, too!

Coming up in the new year we have Cindi Creager, from CreagerCole Communications (formerly of GLAAD and the NY LGBT Center), return guest Terri Clark from LGBT Elder Initiative, and Professor Michael Loman of Boston University. 2013 promises to be an even better year for ‘Aged to Perfection’ and for lgbtSr as we approach our two-year anniversary in April. That’s right, two years! (Look for some special promotions and an added firework or two when the time comes.)

Thanks again, we love doing the show and we love keeping it interesting for you. – Mark McNease/Rick Rose
